Think about Copyright

This is a very local copyright story that concerns a local NYC coffee shop by the name of Think and a NYU student but it is this locality, or the fact that copyright regimes often act as a barricade in everyday, “mundane” situations, which makes these regimes so problematic in the first place.

  1. Ugh. How depressing, on all levels. Both the legal constraints, and the manager’s implication that only “original” music (whatever that means) is worth hearing in a live show.

  2. Wow. Business owners should know what the license they get covers. I’d be surprised if there is not a FAQ for them somewheres. Unless a PRO rep fed them FUD?
